First Dollar Store

This is my Thesis critique from last May.

Someone remind me I have to get better documentation of my work. This has gone up in three other places and only this one has been documented.

In other news, this store is being remounted at Gallery 1313 on Queen west(1313) two weekends from now. Also, it should be going to New York. Most of the sculptures are very limited because dollar stores don't carry the supplies anymore, so buy these while you can. ONE DOLLAR!

I am also taking part in the Big on Bloor festival. I was asked by AnnHoman Projects to do something for the festival. My booth will be at Bloor and St. Clarens (outside mercer union). the topic, GENRIFICATION! ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Big on Bloor is this weekend from 1-9pm

Velcro Buttons

I get 1" buttons from other people and put velcro on it. simple, cheap, effective

i forgot about this. I made a zine cover for Laura Mccoy. It was a stack of buildings.

Old kids on the block by Pamela

Readymade Bookwork. I found this book where a girl named pamela had defaced multiple pictures of members of New Kids On The Block. On the last page however, you see in a cruder handwriting style, hearts around joe and jordans names meaning at one time, Pamela was a fan. This I feel is my best and most misunderstood work.

cloud billboard

So, we put a cloud and the background on two billboards above my house that are about 20 feet apart. As you walk toward the billboard, the cloud appears to drift away from the background. Its just changing perspective. This was a collab with Nika. Dirty Mccurley and dj Wes Allen helped install and cousin jb helped cut. the background broke I think, and just recently, someone took the cloud down. too bad! I hope people liked it while it existed. The cloud was like, 10 feet wide made out of plywood.

This is me exploiting the post art school education cliche 'I just want to paint nature'.

De-reconstructing Pompeii

Altered bookwork. 2006?

In the collection of the Toronto Public Library.

This was a book with pictures of pompeii ruins. On top, pieces of acetate have illustrations of what the buildings would have looked like before the volcano. By taking out the pages of the ruins, i was able to create a futuristic cityscape of all the acetates that deconstructs as you flip the pages. Its about cyclical patterns of memory and interpretations of the future using the past. Its hard to explain, but very deep.

The world is a vampire.

12 vellum pages with a dot on the first page. as pages turn, the dot becomes obscured until it is no longer visable.
